Try Stop Them Now – 2018/19 Edition

ARIS FC.
In 2017/18 ARIS gained promotion into the Greek Super league for the first time since 2014. Since gaining promotion, club chairman Theodoros Karipidis has invested heavily in the club both on-field and off-field.
Karapidis hit the ground running by signing a new manager in Francisco Herrera. Herrera, commonly known as Paco has a close working relationship with Real Madrid legend Raul Bravo, who is at ARIS in a more technical role. This relationship has no doubt influenced the side with an array of Spanish talent coming in and with Karipidis backing these two its fantastic to see it has worked a treat.
In addition, Karipidis has invested off the field in the training ground, clubrooms & change rooms at the
Kleanthis Vikelidis, which was way overdue so kudos to Theodoros. Six rounds into the campaign, ARIS couldn’t have started brighter, currently sitting in 5th spot with 4 wins and 2 losses. ARIS lost their last game to Panionios away at Nea Smirni stadium, but were in control and unlucky not to leave with at least a point.
I’m predicting ARIS to push for a Europa League spot this season but the next 3 match days will really show us where this squad is at. Round 7 is the local derby, where ARIS host PAOK in a game that will be sure to have fireworks. It’s important to note that two weeks ago these two met in the group stage cup game at Toumba, with the result ending 1-1 however being a league game with more at stake you can guarantee both clubs will not hold back. Following on from the derby ARIS have a tough two weeks, facing Champions AEK Athens away and Olympiakos home.
Two notable players that have been instrumental to the early success this season are Mateo Garcia and
Bruno Gama. They are both playing in advance attacking roles and have been influential in making ARIS a team that plays free flowing football, which is very nice on the eye.
Highlights of Bruno Gama in his debut vs Lamia (Round 1):

It would be rude of me not to mention the fantastic support this club receives week in-week out from its
amazing fans. SUPER 3 have responded in numbers (home and away), and are a true credit to Greek football. The sound created from the sea of ‘Kitrinomavri’ has been amazing.
Early signs suggest ARIS can match it with anyone, but I wonder if putting together such a new team in so little time will catch up to us in the winter months of Europe. Only time will tell…
