What does Aris really need from their new manager to succeed?

Hours after the 1-0 defeat to Ionikos, Aris announced that they are parting ways with English manager Alan Pardew. But wait we’ve seen this before, in fact since the 04/05 season there isn’t a single Aris manager that finished the season at the top flight as the manager of the club, except Akis Matzios.

Today we will see what Aris’ new manager needs to do, to you know at least finish the season in Thessaloniki.

This season Aris concede 0.9 goals per game ranking 5th in the Superleague for this particular category. They score 1 goal per

game on average sitting, again 5th in this category. The new manager needs to try and make Aris more solid at the back, but he also needs to try new things in the attacking third.

He might have to drop Gray for Kamara, after his good start to the season scoring 5 times in 4 European games. Gray’s form has been awful, with the Jamaican international finding the back of the net 6 times in 21 games in the Greek Superleague.  With the signing of Rupp from Norwich on a free, Aris adds another quality option in their midfield after Etebo.

With Lazaros, Aris adds another option in attack to help him outscore their opponents. The new manager needs to play Lazaros as much as he can, because, with his experience and quality plus Palma with him at the other wing, Aris will have a great wingers duo for at least this season.

Aris’ board needs to believe in the man they appointed and let him work with his tools. We can see many particular examples in Europe, with boards sticking and backing their manager that turned out and going to turn out well, like Arsenal and Freiburg.

Here in Greece, we don't have the patience (mostly us the fans) but the boards do too, to back the manager and wait for the success to come because we need everything to be done quickly but that’s another topic. Karypidis needs to try and give his next manager more than 6 months and see what happens. Personally, I think he has nothing to lose and at the end of the day, he will avoid another compensation fee.
