PAOK VS PSV MATCH PREVIEW(UEL MATCHDAY 3)

PAOK VS PSV MATCH PREVIEW

BY ALEXANDER KOUTAKOS

After PAOK’s 0-0 draw against Granada, all eyes are set towards PAOK’s match against PSV (MD.3).

In PAOK’s previous UEL tie against Granada, PAOK were the dominant team throughout the game. However, the game itself was spoiled by a horrible missed call by the referee in the final minute of the match (the clear foul on Schwab in the box). If PAOK was awarded a penalty there, the complexion of the group could have been quite different at the moment. Furthermore,  if PAOK scored the penalty kick, they would currently be sitting on top of their group.

In PSV’s  previous UEL tie against Omonia, PSV were the dominant team. Despite this, PSV did concede a somewhat-early long-shot goal from Jordi Gomez(Omonia). However, PSV did bounce back with 2 goals from Malen. Overall, PSV will be delighted with their away performance in Cyprus.

PAOK’s Latest 5 Game Form: WDDDW

PSV’s Latest 5 Game Form:WLLWW

Based on recent form, both sides are on the same level. Moreover, in their previous five games they have both tallied 9 collective points.

PAOK’s Injuries and doubtful players: Vierinha

PSV’s Injuries and doubtful players : Van Ginkel, Gutierrez and Dumfries

Prediction Of The Game Itself:

I predict that PAOK will win 3-2 against PSV. It should also be noted that both of  defences have been quite underwhelming lately. In addition to that in my opinion, Andrija Zivkovic and Schwab will most likely break  their goal-less runs in this game.  We should also be on the lookout for Malen(PSV) who has been on fire lately.

Score Log:

PAOK 3 (10’ Schwab, 33’ Zivkovic, 66’ Zivkovic)- 2 PSV( 16’ Malen , 77’ Malen)

For Which Team Is This Game The Most Important?

This game is more important for PAOK than for PSV. Furthermore, because PAOK is already trailing PSV by one point and a loss in this match would be devastating for PAOK’s  quest for the UEL round of 32. On the contrary, PSV sit in second place and have a ton of experience in the UEL. For PSV due to their minor lead in the standings, they can sit back and be ready to pounce on the counter-attack.

Standings After Matchday 2

Granada- 4 PTS

PSV- 3 PTS

PAOK-2 PTS

Omonia- 1 PT
