Power Rankings for Olympiakos

Power Rankings for Olympiakos 1-0 Loss to Wolves

Against my better judgment I will be giving my ratings for each Olympiakos player who participated in the disappointing 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. I will try my best to be as unbiased and level headed as possible, although I make no promises.

Bobby Alain 4/10

The man that ultimately cost Olympiakos chances if staying in the Europa League. It was always going to be hard for this french stopper to fill the gloves of Jose Sa but the occasion got to him early on I feel. The back pass to him did catch him off guard in fairness and he made some important saves in the second half but it was a sorry night overall for him.

Omar Elabdellaoui 6/10

The skipper might have played his last game for Thrylos and while he made some good runs passing and worked tirelessly. His efforts came to nothing and if this is his final appearance for the Greek Champions, It's a sad way for his time at the club to end.

Ousseynou Ba 5/10

Passing was a little bit suspect from the Senegalese defender, with his back passes almost allowing Wolves to go further into the lead. Defensively however he worked hard and styfuled Wolves attacking players as time went on, he still is learning and will only get better from here.

Pape Abou Cisse 6/10

The imposing defender had to keep his wits about him from the fast counter attacking Wolves players and while I would say he was a bit more solid then Ba and also played reasonably well he missed a huge chance to score from a corner that was eventually a vital miss from his team.

Kostas Tsimikas 6/10

The highly touted left back showed his worth with strong counter attacks and his crossing making life harder for Wolves in their half of the pitch. Was very unlucky to be booked for after getting the ball first before the contact.

Andreas Bouchalakis 5/10

Only staying off for the first half the Greek International seemed a tad out of his depth especially in the first 10 minutes with his erratic passing either going wide or intercepted. He warmed into it over time but Pedro Martins decided a more attacking approach was needed and took him off at the break.

Guilherme 6/10

The was one of the more positive parts of the midfield to begin with until his change late on in the game. Managed to win the ball back a fair few times and even had a fantastic long range effort whistle over the crossbar to put Olympiakos back in the tie.

Mady Camara 7/10

Hard working from start to finish and with a couple questionable passes of his own the marouding midfielder can feel very hard done by that his goal that would have leveled Olympiakos in the tie was chaucked out for offside after El Arabi was out by inches.

Matheu Valbuena 7/10

Depsite his age the French veteran still can stand toe to toe with any of those Wolves players and his antics in midfield did cause a couple of fouls for his efforts. Always a leader on the pitch Valbuena and worked hard until the end it's a shame his efforts did not yield the result it deserved.

El-Arabi 6/10

It’s quite simple, had this match had been played before the 1st of June before the offside law had been changed then the Morrocan forwards assist would have stood and we could have been watching Thrylos in extra time with the goal having been given. We now funnily enough are in August, so I do respect the letter of the law even if it is a strange one. Regardless El-Arabi had some golden chances to score himself but unlike that night in North London against Arsenal there was no late winner from him.

Georgios Masouras 5/10

The Greek forward seemed to struggle too this evening as he fruiltessly attempted to find that killer cross into the box. Despite being very consistent in the league this season and his performance against Arsenal European football has sometimes seemed a level up for Masouras but he still has plenty of time to take his game to the next level. He was subbed off at half time for Randjelovic.

Substitutes Rating

Kostas Fortounis 7/10

After coming on at half time, Fortounis brought a new breath of attacking life into Thrylos and was part of their most positive moves. Great passing and a strong showing overall, I think we are still yet to see the capabilities of the fully fit attacking midfielder.

Lazar Randjelovic 6/10

Gave Olympiakos more opinions on the right wing and was trickier than Masuoras when he came on but the Serbian youngster did not produce as many dangerous attacks towarddsthe latter stages of the game, and should definitely get more game time next season.

Amed Hassan 6/10

Coming on to add even more to the Greek champions attack, Hassan had a golden header fantastically cleared by Rui Patricio that was so close to going in and linked up well with El-Arabi.

Cafu N/A

Although he came on in the last eight minutes of normal time, it was quite a big ask for the Portuguese midifelder to turn the game around upon his substitution. Did not really get into the game and did not impact play so to be honest I feel like it's harsh to give his cameo a rating.
